Nations and Regions Committee

1. Purpose

The Committee advises Council on the structure and operation of Branches, including their creation or merger and their funding levels as well as on the formulation and implementation of strategies and policies pertaining to Institute Branches. The Committee monitors the activities of the Branches, provides guidance to Branch Committees and ensures a forum for shared best practice between Branches.

2. Responsibilities and Powers

i. the development of the Nations, Regions and Branches strategy - working with other Boards of Council as appropriate - and the recommendation of strategy and budgets to Council for their consideration and agreement.
ii. the development of policy in areas directly relevant to Nations, Regions and Branches - working with other Boards of Council as appropriate - and the recommendation of policy to Council for the consideration and agreement.
iii. monitoring the programme of activities in the Nations, Regions and Branches to achieve the goals and strategy agreed by Council, working with other Boards of the Council as appropriate.
iv. reporting to Council on progress in delivering on the Strategy.
v. assist the Directors and Managers of the Institute in the delivery of the Nations, Regions and Branches programme.
vi. governance of the programme of activities and budgets in Nations, Regions and Branches as requested by Council.
vii. election of the Branch representatives on Council.
viii. co-option of additional members of the Board.
ix. any other specific delegated powers agreed by Council.
