Entrepreneurship workshops for scientists and engineers
Are you passionate about the links between STEM and business? Would you like to pass on your knowledge to budding entrepreneurs? Are you looking for an opportunity to volunteer?
The entrepreneurship workshops run by the IOP and its partners focus on bridging the gap between science and business. We champion the invaluable contribution of scientific research, physics-based innovation and business to the growth of the economy; however, the shift from scientific research to business application is not an easy one. This shift requires additional knowledge and skills that are not automatically included in the training of scientists and engineers; our entrepreneurship workshops actively address the knowledge gap.
We run a very interactive programme that covers networking, resource mapping, market analysis and taking ideas to market, tools for financial planning and pitching for cash, communication and presentations skills. The programme also includes several local speakers who address in-country topics such as funding sources, intellectual property and patenting.
In order to run the workshops we need experienced and enthusiastic speakers to deliver the sessions. Please see below for specific requirements:
- Experience in working in a business context and/or with start-up business and specifically in one of the topics listed above
- Experience of working internationally or with international bodies
- An interest STEM and the connection between business and science
- Knowledge and experience of teaching
- A desire to pass on knowledge to the next generation of entrepreneurs
Please note that this is a volunteer opportunity, where the IOP and its partners will cover all expenses incurred. A time commitment of between three and six days is required depending on the length of the workshop.
Should the opportunity to volunteer be of interest, please submit a concise CV and covering letter detailing how you meet the above requirements to email@example.com.
