This Board's purpose is providing support to the Institute of Physics in England the principal aim of which is to promote the advancement and dissemination of a knowledge of and education in the science of physics, pure and applied.

The formation or dissolution of subsidiary companies and the appointment or renewal of Directors is the sole responsibility of Council.
In addition IOP Business Publishing Inc is a wholly owned subsidiary of IOP Publishing Inc. and has its own Board of Directors and Company Secretary.
