The Institute of Physics is a founding member of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Disability Committee, a collaborative group of professional bodies committed to finding practical ways to removing the barriers to disabled people studying and working in STEM.

Projects include the production of over 200 new British Sign Language signs in physics and design technology, the production of a guide for academic staff on supporting STEM students with dyslexia and a project looking at how to improve the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) needs assessments process for STEM students.
