Join the Institute of Physics now

IOP welcomes anyone who has an interest in physics and in our activities. To help you select the right grade of membership follow these examples:

• I have a physics degree and I am interested in the latest developments but my career has taken me in other directions:
  3 month trial Affiliate (£25)
  12 month trial Affiliate (£86)
• I am interested in physics but have no formal qualifications:
  3 month trial Affiliate (£25)
  12 month trial Affiliate (£86)
• I am 16-19 and studying physics – join as a 16-19 member free online now
• I am doing my first degree in physics – become a Student member online now (free for e-only or £15 for print)
• I am doing a postgraduate degree – become an Associate Member (AMInstP) online now (£19)
• I have recently graduated with a physics degree – become an Associate Member (AMInstP) now (£42-£58)
• I have a degree in physics, physical sciences or engineering and at least three years professional experience – become a Member
• Fellowship of the Institute is the senior grade of membership. Candidates for Fellow need to demonstrate a high level of achievement and a significant contribution to their profession

Membership is also available for schools.

Although sending application forms electronically through the internet and email allows us to conserve our resources, we can post copies to you on request. If you would like to receive a printed copy, please email or telephone the Membership Department with your postal address and which category of membership you are interested in.
