Grades of membership

Associate Membership

You have an honours degree in the physical sciences or engineering or its equivalent. Alternatively you are able to demonstrate an equivalent level of attainment through a combination of education, training and experience. Once your application has been approved you can use the designatory letters AMInstP after your name.

Associate Members are encouraged to undertake career development and, where appropriate, work towards Chartered Status.

Postgraduate students doing a Masters or a PhD can join immediately as an Associate Member by completing the on-line application form available here.

For other applicants who would prefer to join immediately on-line (as an Affiliate) please click here. We suggest that you opt for the three month Affiliate membership and during that time we work with you to obtain the additional information needed for Associate Membership.
