Becoming Chartered by the Institute

Chartered status is the aspiration of members engaged at the leading edge of all fields of physics and its applications.

The Institute offers the following chartered designations:

 

Chartered Physicist (CPhys) is the professional qualification awarded by the Institute of Physics to practicing professional physicists.

 

Many physicists move into engineering at some point in their careers and so the Institute of Physics is happy to offer Chartered Engineer (CEng) to its members.

 

The designation Chartered Scientist (CSci) reflects best practice in science and is set at a benchmark level throughout the science professions.
