Re-established Science and Technology Committee

Institute of Physics Press Release

PR31 (09)

Thu, 25 June 2009

Dr Robert Kirby-Harris, chief executive at the Institute of Physics (IOP), has welcomed today’s re-establishment of a parliamentary Science and Technology Committee.

He said, “We are delighted that the House of Commons has ensured there will be proper scrutiny of investment in and policies relating to science and technology by retaining much of the identity of the very effective former IUSS Committee, chaired by Phil Willis. This was a vital move now that responsibility for science and technology has shifted to the much larger Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (DBIS).”
