On Wednesday, 28 January Institute of Physics (IOP) staff had the chance to meet new IOP president Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell for an informal drop-in session. Jocelyn began her two year term as president of the IOP in October last year.
As a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and a Professorial Fellow at Mansfield College, Oxford, Jocelyn has filled a wide range of teaching, research and managerial roles in her career. Her career and the challenges she has faced as a woman scientist and working mother were the main focus of her introductory presentation, giving staff a much appreciated honest and sincere insight into her life.
