Author benefits
The advantages of publishing in this journal include high impact factor (2.873 for 2006), fast publication times and promotion to a wider audience for the best papers on medicalphysicsweb. To submit an article please use our online submission form.

Compliance with NIH Public Access Policy
As of 7 April 2008 it is mandatory for papers arising from NIH-sponsored research to appear on PubMed Central within 12 months of publication. We wish to reassure all our North American authors that PMB does adhere to this policy. NIH-funded authors should submit their articles to PMB as normal, and in order to comply with NIH policy should subsequently submit their final accepted manuscript (but not the Publisher's archival PDF) to PubMed Central. To comply with PMB's copyright policy, the manuscript should not be made publicly available until 12 months after the article goes live in PMB (a link to the published article on the PMB web-site should also be included).

Instructions on article lengths and scope
See the journal scope for subject coverage and information on article types and page length restrictions.

General scientific summaries
In order to increase the accessibility of PMB to all readers, authors are now invited to submit a 'General scientific summary' with their papers, for publication in the electronic journal (only). See the journal scope for more information on this.

IOP Vision Paper on Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The Institute of Physics Vision Papers are part of our strategy to demonstrate to policy-makers and the general public the importance of leading-edge physics research. More than 70 million MRI hospital scans are carried out every year worldwide and ingenious new MRI methodologies continue to be developed. These allow scientists and clinicians to follow physiological and biochemical changes in the body in real time, as well as opening the way to earlier diagnosis of disease and less invasive surgery. We are pleased to share our Vision Papers with the physics community outside the UK, in order to raise the profile of physics research with policy-makers and science funders internationally. Please email tajinder.panesor@iop.org with requests to re-use this material.
