The journal enjoyed a good year in scientific publishing in 2008, and being one of the leaders in the field, attracted some ground breaking research over the year. Article downloads increased to 369 255 (a 10.7% rise compared to 2007), reflecting a growing readership community and a healthy increase in paper quality. This also makes the journal a great publication for authors, some of whom are presented in this collection.
