Information for Authors

Measurement Science and Technology publishes articles on new measurement techniques and instrumentation. Publications in the journal should emphasise the novelty of reported methods and give possible applications. Please use the links below to obtain information on

Subject sections
Papers published in Measurement Science and Technology are categorized into broad subject sections.
When submitting a regular paper for publication, please include information on which subject section the article is intended for. The 9 sections are:

  1. Measurement methods and practical developments (e.g. precision measurements, metrology (dimensional (from pico- and nano-scale to macro-scale), optical, thermal, acoustic, electrical), new measurement principles, signal processing techniques, theory of measurement, calibrations)
  2. Sensors and sensor systems (based on physical, chemical or biological principles; micro- and nano- scale systems; sensors for physical, chemical and biological quantities)
  3. Optical and laser based techniques (e.g. fibre optics, interferometry, fringe analysis, scattering)
  4. Measurement techniques for fluids (e.g. laser diagnostics, velocimetry, particle sizing techniques)
  5. Imaging techniques, (e.g. microscopy, tomography, holography, THz)
  6. Spectroscopy (e.g. optical, acoustic, dielectric principles, mass spectroscopy, NMR, ESR, IR, UV-VIS, fluorescence, x-ray)
  7. New and improved techniques for materials evaluation, (e.g. non-destructive testing and evaluation, structural measurements)
  8. Measurement techniques for biological, medical and life sciences (e.g. imaging techniques for biology and medicine including tomography, microscopy, ultrasonic imaging and MRI; spectroscopic techniques in biological and medical physics; biosensors; sensors for measuring biological, biochemical and medical processes and quantities; new instrumentation for measurement in biology and medicine)
  9. Novel instrumentation

Information for Referees

We appreciate the time and effort our peer-reviewers spend assessing manuscripts for Measurement Science and Technology. The evaluation process by independent expert referees ensures that we publish high quality articles. We thank all our reviewers for their work and support.

Please use the following links to view referee guidelines on reviewing papers, technical design notes, rapid communications, topical reviews and special issue and feature articles.
