About the Journal
Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics contains research across many areas of applied physics, including magnetism, semiconductors, photonics, surfaces and interfaces, and plasmas. Contributions are welcome in all these areas. Please note that all papers published in J. Phys. D. must meet our strict quality and interest criteria.

New article type in J. Phys. D.
For 2008, J. Phys. D has launched Fast Track Communications. These are short, timely articles of high impact and high quality. To submit a Fast-Track Communication go to authors.iop.org

Changes to Journal Scope
The Editorial Board maintain the scope of the journal to fit current interests and circumstances. The scope now specifically includes: plasma-surface interactions, biological and biomedical applications, molecular magnetism, and metamaterials. All articles must be novel, original, and make a real contribution to the advance of their topic.

Forthcoming Cluster Issues
J. Phys. D. publishes regular cluster issues on areas of high current interest. Look out for clusters on fracture; carbon-related materials; and advanced plasma modelling in future issues.

What's new?
Progress in Applications of Magnetic Nanoparticles in Biomedicine, Cluster Review in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics
A landmark selection of review articles published this month in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics; 'Progress in Applications of Magnetic Nanoparticles in Biomedicine', revisits an earlier cluster review by the same group of authors. The five year review shows how far magnetic nanoparticles for application in biomedicine have come and what exciting promise they hold for the future.

Fracture: from the atomic to the geophysical scale - Cluster Issue in Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics
The reviews in this Cluster Issue of Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics cover several important topics including the physical processes in fracture mechanisms, the sub–critical failure issue, dynamical fracture propagation, and the scaling laws from the micro- to the geophysical scales.

Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics examines Fundamental Neutron Physics
Journal of Physics G: Nuclear and Particle Physics is pleased to announce the publication of a special focus section on Fundamental Neutron Physics Guest Edited by Professor Barry Holstein of the University of Massachusetts.
