Forthcoming Institute Conferences

Date: Mon, 17 March 2008
Venue: University of Southampton, UK
Organised by: Low Temperature Group of the Institute of Physics and the British Cryogenics Council

Introduction

There have been significant advances in the development of cryocoolers in recent years and they are becoming indispensable components in a wide range of important applications both in laboratory research and in engineering, where they are employed to maintain temperatures; even into the sub mK region, in large and small scale applications.

Though a series of papers presented by leaders in their respective fields, this meeting will explore how cryocoolers are enabling research in:- Elementary particle physics, Astronomy, Liquid helium- free Low temperature physics, Space and Communications, and the engineering applications of superconductivity, including MRI systems.

Venue:
The event will be held in the Murray Lecture Theatre on the Highfield Campus of the University of Southampton. Please see Building 58 on the campus map. For travel information, please download the attached directions.
