Call for abstracts

The abstract deadline has now passed however contributions for posters are still invited. Please submit your abstract using the on-line submission tool or by e-mail to claire.garland@iop.org.

Abstracts should be a maximum of 1 side of A4 paper (or 600 words) and may include one image and up to three references. Please read the guidelines below prior to submitting your abstract; failure to do so may result in your abstract appearing in sub optimal quality.

  • Select to upload a word document* or submit plain text
  • Indicate the corresponding and presenting author
  • Submit your abstract title in lower case with only the first letter capitalised
  • Select your presentation preference - the programme committee will note your request but cannot guarantee your preferred choice.
  • Indicate if Student Work
  • Supply images in black and white and ensure they are legible within an area of approximately 2.5 inches


If selecting to upload a word document*, please also read the following:

  • The abstract text should be formatted using 11 point Arial (or equivalent)
  • Captions should be formatted using 10 point Arial (or equivalent)
  • Text should be set to single line spacing.
  • References should occur within square brackets and numbered sequentially e.g.[1]


The corresponding author will receive confirmation that the abstract has been submitted successfully together with a reference number (e.g. MD-798-1) which must be quoted when making subsequent enquiries. Notification with regards to acceptance of the abstract will be sent by 2 July 2007.

Abstract amendments
Authors have the opportunity to make amendments to the abstract prior to refereeing. Amendments should be made on-line via the members area. Members should 'log on' using their IOP username and password; non members should 'log on' using the information contained in their confirmation e-mail.
